TERRI BARNES

Historically, the rhino symbolizes Self-knowledge and Wisdom. In the series of dreams I had in the early 90’s, the rhino symbolized these things for me, as well as facing my fear, befriending fear, and integrating my masculine side. The series of dreams began with me alone in an open field, with a herd of rhinos grazing on the opposite side of the field. One rhino sees me and starts charging at me. Just before it gorges me with it’s horn, I awaken, terrified. The next dream is just like the first, except the rhino continues grazing after it sees me, not attacking. The third dream I am on a country road with my partner, and suddenly a rhino appears on the road, blocking our path. Much to the amazement of my partner, I get out of our vehicle and ask the rhino to let us cross. The fourth dream I have a rhino in my home as a pet. The fifth dream is like the first; I am in a field and there are rhinos grazing at the opposite end, except this time I have a friend on both sides of me. The rhino sees me and starts charging right toward me as my friends tell me to get out of the way. I protest, saying “I know this rhino!” The rhino charges right to me but instead of gorging me, caresses me with its horn. Fifteen years later, I have one more rhino dream. It is identical to my first dream except I am unsure whether the rhino will kill me or caress me. I am not terrified of the possibility, only happy to see it again.

Paths Towards Integration

The Six of Diamonds - These people are teachers and givers and can be entrusted with great responsibility. What they have to give is a clear knowledge of higher values and the discrimination to make better personal choices. They are keepers of the law.Underneath the tough exterior lies a person who has a difficult time meeting their needs for affection. There is usually a karmic pattern involving the end of a major relationship which transforms their life and teaches them about themselves. These people help others to discover their special purpose leading to their destiny.
